10 Kilos of Sin
“The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one” Psalm 14:2-3, NKJV. Many Muslims believe that sin must be worked off by doing a greater amount of good works. Recently, a Last Frontier worker named Elaine* listened to her neighbor Ani* as she expressed this view. Ani told her, “If someone does 10 kilos (22 lbs.) worth of sin, he can outweigh it with 20 kilos (44 lbs.) worth of good deeds.” Elaine listened with deep sadness as Ani said, “Each time someone sins, a black spot is put on his or her heart. There are some people whose hearts are completely covered in black; they will feel the fires of hell.” Once Ani finished, Elaine shared about the perfect sacrifice that God made for sin. She explained that all who believe can have the stains on their hearts washed clean. While this was Elaine’s best opportunity to date to share truth with Ani, she felt like weeping because of the veil that seemingly keeps Ani and her people blind to the truth. As Elaine walked away she whispered this prayer, “Only by Your touch, Father.” *Names changed for security reasons. Pray that: Ani and many others from her people will have the black sin-spots of the heart washed clean by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. Ani’s people will experience the touch of God that will remove the veil that keeps them from seeing the truth. Believers living among this people group will not grow weary in proclaiming the Gospel.
