Tokyo Reunion
My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.” Job 16:20-21, NIV. It is not uncommon for people to grow up in one area of Japan, move to Tokyo and find people they grew up with living near by. Mie Busby was born and grew up in Osaka, Japan. She had three close friends in High School that she had lost track of when she went to university. After marrying an American missionary, Mie answered God’s call to serve as His ambassador in Tokyo, Japan. As she settled into her new home, she met one of her High School girlfriends. The friend had married and moved to Tokyo for work opportunities. Her home was 15 minutes away from the Busbys house. Out of curiosity, Mie checked to see if any of her other friends were living in Tokyo. It so happened that all three of her friends lived in Tokyo, and they all had homes within 15 minutes of Mie’s home! “I don’t think it is a coincidence that God allowed us to meet again in Tokyo,” said Mie. “I believe God brought us together so I could share the gospel with them and that they might be saved and start a church.” So far, none of the friends have responded to Mie’s sharing, but she continues to plant seeds with joy, trusting that God will bring a harvest in His time. Pray that: All of Mie’s friends and their families will come to faith in Jesus. These families will form into a new house church that will reproduce itself all over Tokyo. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
