Dreams Open Doors
“Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is he who keeps the law” Proverb 29:18, NASB. Brad* is a Last Frontier missionary in the Pacific Rim. He noted that dreams and visions are fairly common among the people that he is trying to reach. “While living in America, I had never really met people who experienced dreams and visions, but since I moved here it is something I encounter regularly,” he said. God is working in miraculous ways reminiscent of New Testament times in this unreached area. On a recent survey trip, Brad met two people who have become more open to the Gospel because of dreams, visions and healings. One woman, who is not yet a believer, had a dream in which she was startled awake by a man standing beside her bed. She woke up after her dream and found that she was alone in her room. Her husband, who is a follower of Jesus, was out in the jungle cutting wood. She shared her dream with a local evangelist. The evangelist explained that the man was Jesus and that He was inviting her to open the door of her life to Him. She is now seriously considering the Gospel as a result of this dream. Another woman dispassionately talked of seeing Jesus in a vision. She was paralyzed and bedridden for over a month, unable even to sit up. The same evangelist who shared with the first woman had visited her many times and prayed for the LORD to heal her. In answer to those prayers, the woman is once again able to sit up, although she remains bedridden. Again, she has not yet responded to the Gospel, but she appreciates the prayers and wants to hear more. As important as dreams and healings are, it is equally important for a faithful believer to interpret the dream and to share the Gospel. Oftentimes God is using local believers to give a timely word in response to His supernatural interventions. These local Christians are the key to seeing the Gospel spread in Brad’s host country. *Name changed for security reasons. Pray that: Both women will move from being open to Jesus to being followers of Jesus. God will bless the work of the local evangelists in the Pacific Rim. God will continue to do amazing things to confirm the Gospel in the Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
