PRAYER REQUESTS:

Our Purpose: To glorify God by planting reproducing churches where Christ is not known.

The regional day of prayer and fasting for Thursday, August 8 focuses on the Mbojo of Indonesia. See special requests under monthly emphasis…

During the first week of August there will be a countrywide student conference in a last frontier country. The following day students will have a focused time to share passionately in reaching their nation and people for Christ. Ask that many students will come to this conference, be touched by His Spirit and be the start of a movement of the Father unparalleled in the history of this country. Plead fervently and expectantly and trust Him to work in a mighty way.

Pray for the believers who go out weekly to the destitute areas of a last frontier country carrying heavy burdens as they minister non-stop for long times only beginning to touch the many needs they see. Their faces reveal their feelings of helplessness, frustration and aloneness. These believers have waded through dead bodies, comforted the hurting, fed the hungry, stitched up bodies that should have been attended to by a surgeon, bandaged infected wounds, and brought hope to the hopeless. They are experiencing compassion fatigue, and yet they feel the weight of the burden and immensity of the privilege.  Pray that these believers find spiritual strength and comfort that overcomes their weaknesses.  Pray that they know the Lord as their counselor and that the words they speak come from Him, as they themselves “have no more words.”

The rainy season in the Philippines began early this year with several tropical storms already. Typhoon Cosme devastated areas of Central and Northern Luzon in May. Another storm in June brought heavy flooding and great damage in the central islands of the Philippines. Crops worth millions of pesos were destroyed and several deaths reported. Pray that the rains and flooding will stop and allow evacuees to return home. Pray that the message they have heard during the relief efforts will bring them to the true fullness of life only He can impart.

Summer volunteers went to parks, painted faces, made balloon animals, sang songs, shared the Truth, climbed mountains to reach villages, taught English classes and passed out thousands of pamphlets.  Pray that God moves strongly upon the people who received His love and message through these valuable ministry partners and hundreds will seek Him and find the answer to their problems and questions.

Over one year ago, N lost her husband to cancer.  She lives with her mother and two daughters.  Without a husband to work in the rice fields, N and her elderly mother are doing the difficult task of planting rice.  There are no believers in this family, even though the Truth has been shared on many occasions.  Pray that God works in each of their lives and draws this family to Himself.

One older Japanese man being discipled said, "I just wish I had heard about God years ago." Pray that he and his wife will faithfully share the Gospel with others so they do not have to wait to hear of His love and death for them. Pray for Japanese believers to tell others about Jesus before.

Transition is a normal part of life for a Third Culture Kid (TCK), but that does not mean that it is easy by any means. When it is time to leave for college, a young person can experience a variety of emotions, but traveling overseas to begin this exciting adventure can add many more dynamics. Pray for PacRim TCKs as they begin college this fall. Pray for the right roommates, wisdom for decisions in what courses and activities to pursue. Pray for good relationships to form that will inspire, encourage and bless them. Pray for their families as they release their sons and daughters and that God will grow all of them through this time of transition.

There are now five non-Christians meeting to study the Bible at a prominent university in Tokyo. D-san, T-san, E-san, Y-san, and J-san are very interested and are asking deep questions about God and His character. Pray that God would open their eyes to know His great love for them. Pray for continued protection for this group and that they will be given opportunity to meet long-term on this campus.

There were no words to say in the midst of their devastated village where before the storm almost two thousand fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, teachers, grandparents, farmers, boat drivers and some believers had lived. Only a few hundred survived and all want to tell their own story. They desire someone to listen, weep and walk with them through their pain.  Believers came to help and listened to their needs.  It was as if they were living on a deserted island, because every boat was destroyed.  With help, one large boat was purchased for all to use in this village.  Now they are working together to care for each other, but it is difficult and they need prayer.  Pray that God mightily works among these surviving villagers, drawing all to Himself.
Pray for believing families from among the H people who have been detained for a few months now.   Pray that God protects them completely throughout their tremendous ordeal.  Pray for several individuals who were recently sentenced to long terms because of their fellowship activities.  Pray that God enables them to remain steadfast and immovable in their faith.  Pray that God enables them to forgive those who mistreat them.

“I just knew you were a follower,” a believing student declared to a teacher one day as they sat over lunch in her school cafeteria.  “I’ve been praying for three consecutive weeks that the Lord would send someone to help me in my studies; He sent you to me!”  This was her response to the teacher’s invitation to a Chat Club at her university. This student is now one of the biggest advocates and recruiters for the Chat Club.  Pray that God enables the start of a Chat Club at a second university.  Pray that the Lord leads people who are seeking Him to this club.

Workers are facing cancer, death of son and daughter, sick babies, major moves and adjustments, upcoming births, elderly parents facing crisis and illness in the states, language study, and various burdens. Ask the Father to meet every need according to His riches in glory and to be the Rock, Fortress, Healer, Strength and Provider for each one.

The second Pacific Rim Region summit is being planned for November 5-7, 2008 in Olive Branch, Mississippi.  Pray for the hosting church as they plan and prepare for this exciting event. Pray that hundreds of people will register and join PacRim workers to learn how they can make a great impact in reaching the 800+ million living in the region of Pacific Rim. Ask God if you should be a part of this event.  Register at www.takeit2therim.info

1-30 September 2008: Ramadan season for Muslims-prepare now to spend time in focused prayer for these peoples around the world.
