Working for Christians

“Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven.” Colossians 4:1, NASB Updated.

I grew up in the village of Hong Dang in Northern Thailand. I did not hear about Jesus until I was 14 years old, and had left my home to work as a maid. I went to work for a Christian family, and was impressed by the love they showed to each other. I read their Bible, but I did not believe at that time.

I worked for several families, and it seemed that I always ended up working for Christians. One time when I was home visiting family a cousin told me about a medical clinic that was being opened in Chiang Klang. She asked if I wanted to work on the clinic compound as a cleaning person. I agreed and later started work. Again I found that the clinic was being run by Christians!

It was during this time that I started attending church. The pastor visited me, and shared the Gospel with me. It was like all the things I had seen and heard over the years clicked in my mind. I decided that Jesus was the One I wanted to follow.

My siblings and cousins objected to my decision to become a Christian more than my parents, but after they observed the changes in my life they decided that it was good for me. I used to be a greedy person, and they noticed that I no longer looked at situations or people for what I could get out of them. They also saw my relationship with my husband and children improve.

While none of my siblings or cousins have trusted in Christ yet, they are watching my life with interest. I believe that one day the truth will click for them, just like it did for me. My husband is also becoming more open to learning about Jesus, and my eldest son has already become a Christ follower. I’m eternally grateful that God led me to work for Christians!

*Salvation testimony of a Northern Thai believer.

Pray that:

God will call this sister’s family to saving faith.

Believers in Thailand will treat their workers with fairness as a testimony of God’s fairness.

The love of believers in Thailand will be attractive to Thais who are watching them and wondering if Christianity is for real.
