Open but Confused
“Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation, on You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV. David* is a high school aged youth. His mother is from a Roman Catholic background, but she married a Muslim man and is following his religion. David does not feel loved at home. He is confused about religion, and he is seeking to know truth. Recently, two Christians came to visit David’s city. They told him many things about Jesus and His sacrifice for sin. Norman is a Christian who teaches English classes that David has attended. David asked Norman to share more with him about Jesus, so Norman invited David to come to his home to share a meal. As they ate, Norman shared about the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus, not just having a religion. David was intrigued by what he heard, but he is also confused, because it is very different from what he has grown up hearing. David said, “I’m not sure what to believe. But I want to know more. Can I go to church with you?” That Sunday Norman took David to church. David enjoyed himself and had many good questions afterwards. Norman hopes that David will start going with him to church regularly. It is obvious that Jesus is working in David’s heart, and with time, confusion will give way to understanding. *Names changed for security reasons. Pray that: David’s parents will not force him to stop going to church. The Holy Spirit will clear David’s confusion and lead him to conviction of sin and faith in Christ. Norman and other believers living in David’s city will be bold and wise in their witness. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
