A Late Night Conversation

“Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6, NASB.

Daud* listened intently as he sat on his front porch in the middle of a palm plantation. His two friends were sharing about faith in Christ. The air was quiet and the stars twinkled. At close to midnight there was nothing to distract or disturb these three men.

Daud heard about the story of Jesus and His place in “salvation history.” He learned that Jesus was an extension of the sacrificial lamb offered by Abraham. His friends explained the meaning of His victory in obedience at the cross as it was tied to their personal experience of His forgiveness.

One friend shared how Christ had helped him to be a husband who forgave his wife and who had a softer heart shaped and empowered by God’s Spirit. This was not a five minute conversation, and there was no altar call. Instead the friends smoothly transitioned to other conversation recognizing that the truth of the Good News will need many hearings to make sense, and begin to knock on the door of a Muslim’s heart.

At a recent meeting of Muslim-Background-Believers most indicated that they had trusted in Christ between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

*Name changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

The Spirit will take what was shared and convict Daud of his need of salvation and the truth of the Gospel.

Believers will be open and obedient to have late night conversations with their Muslim friends.

Believers will have wisdom to share the Good News by giving their Muslim friends space to think through what they are hearing, and also by leaving the door open to share again in the future.
