Nudge for a Waiter
“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season…” 2 Timothy 4:1-2, NASB. He had waited on us before. Yet this time God opened up a small opportunity for us to share with this Japanese man. Japanese use Chinese characters, which are sometimes hard for us to read. As we were paying for our meal we finally deciphered his name. “Is your name Kano-san?” Kevin asked. “Yes, that is right,” Kano-san replied. He also shared that it was his last night at this particular restaurant. He was being transferred to another location. Kevin felt impressed to give a Jesus Manga, a Japanese style comic book that tells the story of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. As we left the restaurant I mentioned to Kevin that we should give Kano-san the same comic book tract. He smiled and replied, “I was already planning on doing that, I think God is at work.” After getting the booklet from the car Kevin returned to the restaurant and gave it to Kano-san. He received it and said he would read it. With such seeds the Kingdom of God will come to Sendai, Japan! *Excerpt from a newsletter of IMB missionaries Donna and Kevin Qualls. Pray that: Believers in Japan will be sensitive to the nudging of the Holy Spirit to share a witness about Christ’s love every day. Mr. Kano-san will read the booklet and will understand the wonderful news that Jesus is alive and can give him new life. The Holy Spirit will lead Kevin and Donna to many spiritually prepared people in Sendai. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
