Over our Door
“By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.” Hebrews 11:28, NIV. Three sweet girls from our neighborhood have faithfully befriended our girls, even though there are religious, ethnic, linguistic and cultural barriers. They continue to come and play with our girls at our house and have been faithful to come with us each week to Sunday School. Last week we told the story of the Passover Lamb and then played a chase game based upon the story. I, representing the “Angel of the Lord,” chased the children, who represented the Israelites and Egyptians, through the streets of Egypt. The next day, one of the little girls came to play and said, “Mr. Jeff*, let’s play that game again where the Angel of the Lord is trying to kill us unless we put the blood of the lamb over our door!” “Wow! She remembered the story,” I thought with amusement, but then I was quickly sobered by the harsh reality that she was describing her current spiritual state with striking clarity. *Name changed for security reasons. Excerpt from the newsletter of a Last Frontier worker in the Pacific Rim. Pray that: The Holy Spirit will lead these precious girls to saving faith in the LORD. God will bring down all the barriers that keep the people around us from hearing and receiving the Gospel. Believers in our city will boldly and faithfully live out and proclaim the Truth to their watching neighbors. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
