Join in the PacRim Day of Prayer and Fasting on Thursday, February 7. Pray for the Japanese in Sendai, Japan, home to 1.3 million Japanese and the capital of the Tohoku Region. Through Japanese translations of the Bible, Gospel tracts, and the Jesus Film, there is now access to the Gospel, yet millions remain lost. Pray that Sendai residents will realize the mighty power of God over and above all things they fear and revere. Pray that they will give their hearts to Christ. (See specific requests for Day of Prayer and Fasting).Last month you prayed for Steve and Jen H and their training opportunities. God definitely answered with great blessings in their recent training where they provided the lodging and meals for the 50 participants in their own home. Steve’s back injury and pain did not hinder him from completing the teaching on Church Planting Movements and evangelism. The folks were excited to apply the truths learned and to start new groups. Pray that they will be faithful in their commitment to start teaching those who will be faithful to teach others.Pray for the revision and/or translation of the Word into ethnic languages. Pray that the Word will quickly get out into the heart languages of the people. Dorm parents are needed next year for one dorm. Many students are on the list for next year, so this is a critical need. Pray that God will provide the ideal couple for this position. Pray for a young Japanese college student who trusted Christ after hearing the gospel from a Christian on the internet. Pray that he will share his new faith with his friends and family and that they will come to know the Lord personally. In mid Nov 2007 prayers were lifted up for a "Key Literature Project" that was nearing completion. Pray that the layout of the project will come to a rapid and successful close so printing can begin. Pray for plans to distribute the book to come together and all to work well. Ask for the protection of all involved. Thank God for new ways to get the gospel to the entire country. "Drink your milk!" How many times have we as parents said that to our children? The news today lets us know that while many have plenty to eat and drink, many children do not. One company desires to use local products to produce milk for children in a last frontier country. Local people are being trained in the production process. Their time in the factory is limited due to many factors. Pray that they can make the best use of their time and share milk for the body but also share about the One who gives life. Although their resources are limited, ask that every necessary provision will be supplied. Encouragement and renewal are great needs for workers. Pray that plans for the annual summer meeting will follow His desires and will meet the needs of all. Pray for volunteers as they prepare to come as childcare workers and minister in various ways. Ask God to anoint the worship leaders, speaker and all the preparations so He is glorified and His children are edified.Pray for massive Bible distributions and evangelism in schools of 14 towns of Batangas province, Philippines. Pray also for the outreach of medical missions with Parkway Baptist Church in five locations of this province during February. This month Richard and Henry Blackaby will be leading a conference, "Transformation in the Workplace" in Manila, Philippines. Eight million Filipinos work abroad and about 5 million of those are in the most spiritually needy nations of the world. Nearly nine percent of those Filipinos are born again believers. There is a growing awareness that it is in the everyday places where most people will hear and respond to the Gospel of Christ. Pray that the participants will be challenged to move out and take Christ to the lost in their workplaces, cities and around the world and that they will accept the responsibility of an obedient disciple. "Living out" for several months totally among your people group can be a jumpstart for a new work and increase language and cultural learning opportunities. Pray for Susan S who will experience a live-out in a strategic area from January to March in the Philippines. Ask God to lead her to persons of peace. Pray that many decisions will be made for Christ and that many new churches will result. God has opened doors to a senior adult group called "Begin" for both Sharon and Mark B in the Tokyo Bay area. Sharon shared her testimony with 30 ladies. Mark is meeting with Mr. F, a man of peace, who wants to begin a smaller group called "Talk" for seniors to discuss various subjects with Mark as a "life coach". Pray for these Japanese, who need the Savior but have not been touched by the Gospel message until now, to experience new life in Christ. Student C attends a local university and is studying the national language. Normally people from her country, which is restrictive, travel in a small group, or at least in pairs, but she is the only person from her country in this class. As she relates to a believer in her class, pray that opportunities will arise for sharing the good news and for a good relationship develop. When a teaching mother hears another mother talk about her own joys and struggles of homeschooling, she can feel a kindred spirit and desire to carry the load for one another in prayer. Pray that during a homeschooling conference this Feb. 11-16 that families will experience oneness, encouragement and help for their future educational needs as they teach their precious children. Lunar New Year is a big celebration for Korean families. On February 7 many will visit their parents and give money or gifts. Ancestral worship is strong during this holiday and opportunities for sharing the Truth abound. Pray that believers will be safe in their travel and ready to share a strong witness with their lost relatives. Many look for blessings by good works or fear of the gods. Ask God to make 2008 a year of His great redemption for thousands of Koreans. A woman who has been working with a local team in a correctional facility will soon be heading up a women’s correctional facility. She has invited a health team to help at this new facility. Praise God for the opportunity to expand His work among prisoners. Ask for His wisdom and discernment for everyone involved in the project. Ask the Spirit of God to be moving on hearts and minds preparing them to receive the Good News. Pray for new workers who have hit the ground facing health issues. Several workers and TCKs (third culture kids) have faced health issues. Ask for wisdom and direction for steps needed in health care decisions. Pray for grace, peace, strength and endurance as they press on daily. Ask for His glory to be evident to all in these situations.
