By Himself but Not Alone

“For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Neither has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.” Psalm 22:24, NASB.

Until recently, Naim* would quietly join together with the larger group of believers who spoke his language within a campus ministry. Some may not have even realized that Naim was not from the Christian people group that made up most of the group studying on the campus, but instead a local man who had come to follow Jesus. The times of fellowship were sweet, but then the pressure started growing among Naim’s peers. Now he has decided to make a break with the group, but continue to be faithful to Jesus by himself, but not alone.

The leaders of the campus ministry were recently encouraged to receive the following note from Naim (edited)…

You say, “I can’t go on.”
God says, “My grace is sufficient (2 Cor 12:9).”
You say, “I feel all alone”
God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb 13:5).”
You say, “I cannot manage.”
God says, “I will supply all your needs (Phil 4:19).”
You say, “Nobody really loves me.”
God says, “I love you (Jn 3:16).”
I miss you…

Chances are that Naim found this message somewhere and passed it on. It speaks volumes in reflecting the thoughts of his heart.

*Names changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

Naim will continue to stand strong in the faith, and that he will become a bold witness to his people group.

God will continue to bless this campus Bible study to reach all kinds of students with the Gospel.

Naim’s people will respond to the Gospel in large numbers and many groups will be started before the end of 2008.
