Home Run
“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, ‘This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’” 1 Corinthians 11:23-24, NASB. Mr. Miku doesn’t have much to give materially, but what he has he shares joyfully. He is constantly giving to the homeless and loves sharing the Gospel at his neighborhood park. Recently he prayed for God to give him a “home run” week. God responded to his prayers with not one, but five faith decisions in a little over a week! Mr. Higa met Mr. Miku in a park. The two started talking, and Mr. Higa shared that his deceased parents were Christian. Mr. Miku shared the Gospel with Mr. Higa, and he prayed to receive Christ. Mr. Miku took Mr. Higa a box with three pairs of reading glasses that he bought at the 100 yen store. Mr. Miku wants Mr. Higa to be able to see so he can read the Bible. A couple of days later, Mr. Miku met Mr. Shiro. Mr. Shiro was the president of an information technology company that went bankrupt. When Mr. Miku shared about the God who gives second chances and new life, Mr. Shiro responded by putting his faith in Christ! A day later Mr. Miku led two other men to faith, and the next day he led yet another man to faith. Mr. Miku smiles as he thinks about the kindness of God who even answers prayers for “home run” weeks! Pray that: God will meet all of Mr. Miku’s physical needs as he continues to be faithful to share what he has with joy. Mr. Higa and Mr. Shiro will grow in their new found faith. These new believers will become joyful witnesses to the Gospel like their mentor, Mr. Miku. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
