Stone Throw Away “And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!’” Romans 10:15, NASB.
For the urban Muslim in this Pacific Rim nation, meeting a Chinese or Indian is a common thing. Most would have at least met a Christian at some point. Yet for most of the Muslim population, it is a different story, because the majority of the almost thirteen million people still live in rural areas. When some Indian believers moved to the East Coast, it was not only the first time many of their friends had met true believers in Jesus, it was also the first time they had met an Indian! Din* lives with his family on a government palm plantation, one of the hundreds of plantations that have been carved out of the jungle over the past thirty years. Not only has the government program boosted agricultural production, it has also catapulted millions of people into the middle class enabling them to own their own homes, cars and home computers. The Muslim community has benefited disproportionally from this program – in fact, there is not a single non-Muslim among the couple of hundred families on Din’s plantation. Din has a business on the side of the monthly palm revenue he receives and is one of the more progressive men on the plantation. While eager to hear of the world beyond, Din has no intention of leaving the traditions of his community. * Name changed for security reasons. Pray that: As Din continues to hear the Gospel he will be open and responsive. Din will become more than a business leader to the community, but a spiritual leader for Jesus. Believers in the rural areas will become burdened to share the Gospel in loving and culturally relevant ways with their Muslim neighbors. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
