Out of Thailand

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;  that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” John 17:20-21, NKJV.

For the past four years I’ve worked with a team of believers trying to reach the hill tribes of Northern Thailand. Over those years I’ve hosted numerous volunteer teams from the United States and I have always been blessed to work with believers from other cultures.

Recently my team leader, IMB missionary to the Northern Hill Tribes of Thailand, Jeri Whitfield invited me to come with her on a short-term medical mission trip to Cambodia to work with Vietnamese. Not only was this my first time outside of Thailand, it was my first time to be on the other side of a volunteer team, as the guest coming to help instead of the host being helped.

It was wonderful and eye opening to me to be the one who didn’t understand all the language or culture going on around me. I enjoyed being able to use my nursing skills to help another people group and to bring glory to God.

I was especially blessed by the bond I felt between believers. The more I get to spend time around other believers from different places, the more amazed I am at the special bond of love that God has given to His children. We may speak different languages, but we have one heart.

Pray that:

The unreached peoples of the Pacific Rim will see the unity and love of God’s children and be drawn to confess that the Gospel is true.

God will call Thai believers to reach outside of Thailand as international missionaries.

The Vietnamese in Cambodia will come to know the one true and living God.
