The Pacific Rim Region prayer focus this month is on the So people of Laos and Thailand. Join us in praying for specifically for the So on Thursday, January 3. For specific prayer requests visit www.go2pacrim.org.

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake, a coup attempt, and two typhoons have hit the Philippine islands recently. Many families have been displaced, and many people have lost their homes due to floods or wind. Pray for the Lord’s comfort for those families who have lost loved ones as well as their homes. Pray that the Lord will use believers to share His comfort during these times of tragedy.

When a new believer accepts Christ, he has the opportunity to share his testimony with hundreds who relate to him each day whether in a classroom, market, home or business. Men and women of influence become catalysts for the Good News to flow in amazing ways. Pray for new believers to become shining lights without fear or shame. Ask the Spirit to grow them quickly in faith and truth.

After waiting and praying, one team is beginning some community development projects in an effort to meet physical needs that will open doors for sharing the Good News. Ask God to reveal which local partners should join in this outreach, and pray that a bountiful harvest will be reaped from these projects.

Pray for couples where one is a believer and the other is not. Ask that the life of the believer will reflect the Life and Light, persevering often in various trials without growing weary of doing good. Pray that the one who has yet to believe will be won over by the gentle, sweet, powerful Spirit of the Living Eternal One indwelling the believer.

Ilongot tribal pastors are eager to be trained. Pray for Steve H as he trains and encourages these believers to reach out to the Agta tribal people on another part of their island in the Philippines. Pray that God will give them a burden for multiplying churches in villages around them, and some will feel called to go and minister among the Agta tribe. Pray that those who are called will be faithful to obey.

At various times local and government officials question and investigate workers and ministries. Pressure may increase to share specific information which makes it difficult. Pray that God will change the hearts of these officials and that those answering questions and inquires will have His peace and wisdom in the moment of their need. Ask that this will not interfere with the work, which is just beginning to have visible spiritual influence. Pray for partners who recently arrived to be strong and to not fear man. Ask for wisdom in responding to all inquires and for grace, peace, discernment and integrity for all involved.

Praise God that a local partner has responded to the call and has gone into a perilous and otherwise inaccessible area to help others with critical needs. Pray that deeper, spiritual needs will be met as a result. Ask for the safety and welfare of this worker and his team members.

Over 1500 new believers resulted from the many efforts of 50 volunteers who ministered in 47 different churches during the November evangelistic meetings in South Korea. The follow-up will be crucial. Pray that relationships will be formed that easily lead to good discipleship and a strong commitment to grow and share their newfound faith. Pray that churches will continue to reach out into their communities daily as they did during the crusade event.

You have been praying for a translation project. The team has suffered setback after setback and these continue. The work has not been able to continue since the sickness of one translator’s wife. Her illness remains a mystery and even with treatment she remains ill. Ask that God be glorified in all this. Pray for this dear believer to know His complete restorative touch and that this illness will flee from her. Pray for the project to get back on track and that the enemy will be soundly defeated.

A Filipina had been disciplining a new believer for five months. This lady felt the new believer was not ready to share her faith with anyone just like many church members who do not share Jesus with others. A worker was able to share with these two women how they could and should share their faith with others. They were encouraged to learn John 3:16 and John 14:6 by heart and then witness to another person within the next week. The worker prayed with them and prayed throughout the week for opportunities for a witness from the new believer. By God’s appointment the worker met the lady at a local store where she shared about her witness with her neighbor. Pray that new believers will share immediately a witness of what Christ has done in their lives. Pray also for workers to be faithful in teaching new believers in spite of opposition. Pray for intercessors who will lift up these new believers.
