Scream
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NASB. At a medical clinic on the earthquake torn island of Nias, Indonesia a three-year-old boy would scream and shake his fists. He had obviously been severely traumatized by the quake. The boy’s parents said that he had been like this since the quake. All the volunteers from First Baptist Tulsa gathered around the boy and prayed over him. When the group prayed, the boy would calm down and relax. An TCK (Third Culture Kid) who came to translate for the medical team was so impressed by the needs of children traumatized by disasters that she decided to study child trauma counseling in college as a result. She wanted to be better equipped to help other children like this screaming three-year-old. Pray that: The love of Jesus will calm the terror of lost children on the island of Nias, and many will find salvation. God will honor the commitment of this TCK to prepare for a career counseling troubled children. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
