Wrapper in the Pocket
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10, NKJV. I met a young man named Donald* during a community ministry project. Since that time he has proven to be a good friend to our family. While he continues to be Muslim, like the vast majority of his people group, he is intrigued by our lives. A local believer recently came up to me and said, “Donald is watching you closely, Jeff. He commented to me that there is something different about us.” This brother went on to relay the story that Donald saw me unwrap a piece of candy. When I couldn’t find a trash can, I put the wrapper in my shirt-pocket. Donald asked, “Why would he do that? We live on top of a garbage heap! Yes, there is something different about you two that is very interesting to me.” *Names changed for security reasons. Excerpt from the newsletter of a Last Frontier worker in the Pacific Rim. Pray that: Believers in Donald’s city will live in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ so that the watching world may see and be convinced that God’s Word is true. Donald will come to understand that what he sees in the lives of his believing friends is Jesus, and as a result he will become a committed follower of Christ. Reproducing churches will result from the loving witness of believers like Jeff. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
