You Asked for This!
“And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14, NASB. Jessie* and her family moved all the way from America to Indonesia to share the Gospel. Her husband, Caleb, was often out in the villages sharing with people about Jesus. She found herself home alone with three small children. She became frustrated that she had much fewer outlets to share the Gospel than Caleb. One morning she prayed, “God send someone for me to share with.” Later that same week the doorbell rang unexpectedly. Jessie answered the door to find a nervous looking woman in full Muslim dress. The woman looked around to see if any neighbors where watching her, and then asked, “Can you tell me more about Jesus?” Jessie invited the woman into her home. The woman was in her forties and had two children. Her family was devout Muslim, and she had even been on the Hajj to Mecca. Yet for the past several months every time she set foot in the Mosque she saw a vision of a cross. These visions upset her so much that she stopped going to Mosque. She asked Jessie if she knew any followers of Jesus from her background. Jessie did know some women from among the local believers with whom Caleb worked, and she offered to arrange a meeting. Jessie shared some literature with the woman, but the woman’s children found it and were upset. The woman was very fearful about following Jesus, but she couldn’t ignore the persistent visions that God kept sending her of the cross. The woman consistently visited Jessie at times when Caleb was away. Jessie wanted Caleb to be around to talk to the woman, so she asked God about it. God gently responded to Jessie, “Don’t you remember that you asked Me for this!” *Names changed for security. Pray that: Pacific Rim moms will find outlets to be involved in the task that brought them all the way from America to Southeast Asia. Believers will connect their prayers to God’s answers and be strengthened in faith. God will continue to send visions to Muslim women that will result in them hearing the Gospel and being saved. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
