Yes and No

“But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no.” 2 Corinthians 1:18, NASB.

The Obon festival in Japan is a national affair. Many families make trips to visit family. Children are sent off to visit grandparents. Companies close down. Many people visit family graves and pray to their ancestors. Traffic is thick on the expressways for tens of miles. Beaches are so crowded that it is standing room only. Hot and humid evenings are spent by the rivers or in parks where there are often fireworks and beer parties. This is the highlight of summer-time in Japan.

Just before the Obon festival, Mrs. Chi* was talking to her husband about Christ and asked Him if he believed in Jesus. His said yes, yet a few days later he was at his family grave praying to his ancestors.

Pray that:

Mr. Chi will soon accept Christ as his Savior.

Mrs. Chi will listen closely to the Holy Spirit and follow His leading in her witness to her husband.

This couple will grow together and be used to start a church in their neighborhood.
