Prayer makes a difference! In the Pacific Rim region prayer is a high priority in reaching the 800 million people living there. Pray for an important advocacy summit this November 14-16, 2007 at Jersey Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. Pray for field leaders and workers as they prepare materials and projects to share with partners. Pray for many participants to join us and connect closely with people groups and teams in ways that will be effective, creative and strategic in making God known throughout the PacRim region. As Ramadan ends this month and many Muslims break their fasts, ask for Truth to be proclaimed boldly and in the power of His Spirit. Pray that a spiritual hunger will linger and His name will continue to be revealed to those in darkness.

Pray for wisdom, discernment and boldness in relief efforts being launched as a result of the earthquakes and the tsunami in PacRim. Ask God to display Himself mightily and lovingly to those who are mindful of Him. Praise God that He does all things well. Ask that He will use these efforts to plant and water seeds that will reap an eternal harvest of many souls.

One believer who had served in a hard labor prison camp for thirteen months was released in August! He has been reunited with his family. Pray for the ministry of this family to be strong and protected. Pray for the three other men who are still being held.

"I said, Plow new ground for yourselves, plant righteousness, and reap the blessings that your devotion to me will produce. It is time for you to turn to me, your Lord, and I will come and pour out blessings upon you" (Hosea 10:12 TEV). On October 5-6 the SBC Cebu Association (Philippines) and WMU association are sponsoring a spiritual retreat with a focus on revival among the churches. Pray for those planning the retreat to hear the Lord clearly. Pray that church members will turn to the Lord and receive His blessing and renewal.

Yun is a 45 year old single mother who lives with much fear and worry. Her poor education, family loyalty, and fear of the spirits hold her captive, despite many discussions about the One who could set her free. Recently, when workers prayed over one of her concerns, she felt a distinct sense of peace and witnessed an outcome better than imagined. Pray that her sense of need and desire for freedom will overcome the things that hold her captive and that she will be free indeed!

As people in one country celebrate their religious form of Lent, pray that their visits to temples, fasting and times of religious teaching and meditation will cause them to see visions of the Lord and to know the Truth. Pray that they will feel a discontentment with all the rituals and disappointment in their hard efforts and will open up their lonely hearts to the only One who can fill them.

Pray for divine encounters among Japanese who have a strong interest in knowing Jesus. Pray that as they seek answers to their questions they will meet the true living God. Pray for them to be saved and become multiplying disciples, helping to spread the gospel quickly among the Japanese.

Pray for God to raise up strong house church leaders, who serve the Lord with great faith and abundant joy. Pray that they will catch the vision of multiplying His church among the Japanese in their natural settings. Pray for a sweet fellowship and unity in the Body of Christ as He establishes His Church among the Japanese.

Pray that new Japanese believers will be obedient followers of Christ. Pray that they will sense His presence and power in their daily lives and be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray that in their workplaces, homes, and communities they will shine like stars for Him, leading others among their people group unto Himself.

Australia is a nation of just over 20 million people, yet it is estimated that only 5% are fully devoted followers of Jesus. Pray for the people of Australia who do not know Jesus, that their spiritual eyes will be opened to see the Heavenly Father who loves them, that their spiritual ears will be open to hear the voice of Jesus, and that their hearts will be receptive to the beckoning of the Holy Spirit.

Pray for teachers in an Oral Bible School to train leaders in ways that will "stick" and that they can use to train others.

Pray for the on-going prayerwalks in Dapitan City and the initiating of prayer walks in Siquijor in designated areas where there are unsaved contacts. Ask the Lord of the harvest to call out one or two Filipino couples/families to work in Siquijor for follow-up from the ministry of the Nehemiah teams in the next two years and that adequate support from local resources will be raised for these workers.

Jampa is a believer who lives in the same village as Fair. When she found out about Fair’s problems, she visited her. As she calmly talked to her, Fair was coherent and recognized Jampa and others. After asking some questions, Jampa felt that Fair is suffering from a mental condition not from spirit possession. Fair expressed an interest in reading some books and having prayer. Pray that as she reads about the great Healer that she will be healed both spiritually and mentally and know that it was the Lord who healed her and not the witch doctors. Jampa knows that only the Lord can bring complete wholeness, so please pray for her as she shares with Fair. Pray that Fair will understand the message and desire to give her life to the Lord.

A worker with an unreached people group requests prayer in organizing and gathering groups of unbelievers among elderly people living in the neighborhood with whom Bible stories can be shared. The worker also requests a steady part-time job.

The first strategy coordinators training for Koreans will be held on Oct. 8-12. Pray for effective communication as some speakers present through a translator. Ask the Lord to open hearts and minds to know how to utilize this training in various ministries and to catch a vision for training others.
