New Birth Miracle

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.” Psalm 139:13, NASB updated.

As one Buddhist monk struggled with the concept of not being reincarnated, he turned to the Christian he was talking with and asked, “If there is no reincarnation, then God is constantly making new lives. What part do the parents play in making a new life?”

“The Bible says that God knit us together in our mother’s wombs. Certainly God includes the parents in His work of creation. The woman provides an egg. The man provides a sperm. Yet when these two tiny cells unite, they become so much more that what either the man or the woman contributed,” explained the Christian. “The formation of a baby is as miraculous as the formation of the heavens and earth. It is nothing less than divine in origin. Ask any parent who has been unable to conceive what role he or she has in making a new life. They will helplessly admit that they have precious little to do with it.”

Slowly the monk began to nod his head. He looked off into the empty space of the temple, as if trying to process these strange new ideas he was hearing. As the Christian watched his Buddhist acquaintance struggle he thought, “The spiritual birth of a person is just as divine and miraculous as the physical birth. What does any man have to do with it? Precious little, that’s what, precious little.” The Christian silently thanked God for being allowed to stand on holy ground and share truth with someone long trapped in spiritual darkness.

Pray that:

God will save this monk.

Believers in the Pacific Rim will realize how big and powerful God really is, and will be ready and willing witnesses of His glory.

Christians will be humbled and awed by the creative work of God in bringing people to salvation.
