Over 650,000 Pasemah in South Sumatra are energetic and enthusiastic. They follow Sufi Muslim teachings and call on the spirits of their ancestors for protection and blessings. Scripture portions and the Jesus Film are available, yet no known churches exist. Some are seeking to know God personally and they need your prayers. Visit www.go2pacrim.org for specific requests under monthly day of prayer and fasting.

Many of the "I" people can’t, won’t or don’t like to read. Although statistics show relatively high literacy rates for people living in the provinces, most would never casually pick up reading materials including ones for believers. One way to reach these folks is through oral stories from the Word. Three workers will experience training in October to learn effective ways to tell stories using the "I" dialect and culture. Pray for the right "I" person to work alongside them as a "story crafter."

During Ramadan (Sept. 13-Oct. 12) many will read or listen to the reading of the Quran. Ask that the Spirit will use the verses of the Quran that speak about Christ and His identity to spur an interest in what the Bible has to say about Him. Pray that many will encounter the Truth.

Workers and volunteers have shared the Truth by teaching English to some of the brightest students in one province. Pray that those who have heard a little will want to hear more and that those who have heard much will respond positively to the gospel. After these classes end, many of the students will go abroad; pray for people in other countries to befriend them and share the gospel. Pray that those who stay in the area after the English class is over will be gathered into small groups to story through the Bible.

The last ten days of Ramadan (October 2-11) are seen as time of spiritual power. The Night of Power (usually the 27th night of the lunar month) is recognized as the most powerful night of the year. It is believed that the Quran was revealed to the prophet on this particular night which is better than a thousand months. For this reason many spend the night reading the Quran and praying. It is also believed that on this night the angels and the Spirit descend to carry out the commands of Allah. Ask that the Mighty Spirit of God will release the captives this night by opening eyes and hearts to see the Magnificent Christ and enable people to embrace Christ as Savior and Lord.

Mr. OK, in Kobe city, accepted Jesus Christ through T4T (Training for Trainers) and was baptized on Sunday, August 12th, at Suma beach. Please pray that his walk with the Lord will be strengthened so that he may be able to witness to the lost effectively and train others.

Praise the Lord for church planting work that is contextual to the people and happening in the outskirts of M city. People are responding to a style of evangelism and worship that is uniquely theirs. As one believer said, "Finally, we can worship in a way that is for us." Praise the Lord that the people are finding their true cultural identity in worshiping their Creator. Pray that the Holy Spirit would protect the work in this area. Pray for the multiplication of ten house fellowships started in the last year and for the next generation of house churches to be started.

Pray for Lorna, the only strong Filipino believer in her Batangas neighborhood, to become a great influence to her extended family, who are also her neighbors. God is working mightily in Lorna’s life to reveal His holiness. Lorna shared one day with Mercy, a mature believer, that she had been watching a TV special on weeping idols. The claims prompted Lorna to search the scriptures concerning idols. After ready the Truth about idols, she threw away her household idol. Mercy said, "I was surprised because we had not talked about idols recently, but I was glad that God spoke to her and she decided on her own to throw it away." Give praise for the power of God’s Word to transform lives.

Pray for J. and C., women in two of the Reboot training groups. These women are both believers with a growing passion to share the Gospel, and both have shared their faith boldly with their unsaved husbands recently. Pray for their ongoing courage to handle this difficult task, and ask the Lord to bless their obedience by drawing their husbands to Himself.

Pray for a couple beginning a new semester of language classes. They also nurture and encourage nineteen new workers in language and culture adjustments. Help with housing, transportation, culture shock, learning how to live cross-culturally, listening, finding tutors, arranging language classes, and holding accountability meetings are among the many things to lift up on behalf of these workers. Pray for God’s grace and wisdom as they walk through each day’s activities and ministries. Pray for the national language teachers to have insight into the best ways that each learner can learn quickly and communicate with their new people group.

Prayer makes a difference! In the Pacific Rim region, prayer is a high priority in reaching the 800 million people living there. Pray for an important advocacy summit this November 14-16, 2007 at Jersey Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. Pray for field leaders and workers as they prepare materials and projects to share with partners. Pray for many participants to join us and to discover how to closely connect with people groups and teams in ways that will be effective, creative and strategic in making God known throughout PacRim. Visit the website, www.takeit2therim.info, for more information.

The K People are a closed group living on a group of isolated islands. Ask that the Father will begin to soften the hearts of the people to receive His Word and will send workers to share the good news in this isolated place.

Pray that the LEAD (Leadership Equipping and Development) ministry be made an important part of Indonesian Baptist’s strategic method of training church leadership. LEAD extends beyond seminary education to church leaders who are unable to enjoy a seminary education.

Mrs. F invited her mother, her sister-in-law, teenager daughters and two other families to witness her baptism at the river. She has already started witnessing to them and gave each one a Bible as a thank you for coming to her baptism. Pray as she seeks to gather people each Sunday to start a new church in Nagoya, Japan.

Praise the Lord for the seven men and four boys who have been saved in Okinawa, Japan as a result of Mr. Miku’s park evangelism! Pray especially for Mr. Shiro who goes often with Mr. Miku to witness and also brings his friends to hear the gospel. Pray for these new Christians as they minister to each other.

Lift up local leadership in three house churches among the PB. Pray that leaders will be established and that the churches will be passionate for reaching their neighbors.

Workers in Pepper Port are teaching English to high school teachers. Pray that the Spirit will open their hearts and minds to their need and His ability to provide. Ask for many opportunities to share Christ with them.
