Just Like Me

Accidents do happen, even when you are trying to be careful. Rusty found that out as another volunteer accidentally sprayed him with grey mud as he was setting a pump to clear a contaminated well. He decided that he could get mad or he could laugh at himself. Fortunately he chose the later.

One of the Indonesian men who had been down in the well cleaning out the muck pointed at his dirty clothes and then at Rusty’s dirty clothes. He laughed and said, “You’re just like me” in Indonesian.

“I think this little incident spoke volumes to the people,” said Rusty. “They saw that we can get dirty and work and laugh just like them.”

God even uses little accidents to show the people that followers of Jesus are people just like them.

Pray that:

God would allow circumstances to happen that pull down barriers to the Gospel like preconceived ideas about what His children are like.

God’s children would maintain a good sense of humor in these circumstances.
