We Serve a Living God
“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16, KJV. Olive*, who isn’t a believer yet, often tells her friends and others she meets about Bible stories she has heard from Christians. She has actually opened the door for several others to hear about Jesus. One day she was talking about the Buddhist altar in her home. She puts rice and tea out every day for her husband's ancestors. When asked why she does this, she stated that she didn't know why, even though her family has a list of ancestors going back several hundred years. Olive is simply continuing the tradition of offering foods at the altar. She said, “I'll be separated from all of them if I believe in Jesus." She seems so close to believing at times, and then on other days, she seems so concerned about her ancestors. *Name of the local person has been changed for her privacy. Pray that: Olive will not just tell stories about God but will really come to know Jesus and believe in Him as her Savior and Lord. Olive’s concern for her ancestors will transform into a concern for the salvation of her living relatives. Olive and her family and friends will worship the True and Living God rather than serving those who are dead. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
