Dirty Feet

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew 11:29 NIV

Walking the dusty streets of what was once a thriving residential area before the tsunami, in open toed sandals, reminded one volunteer of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet.

"The bottoms of my feet were just black with dirt,” he said. As he cleaned his blackened feet off with water it made him feel clean all over.

“Peter asked Jesus to wash his whole body and Jesus said, ‘If you have washed, you only need to have your feet cleaned to be all clean.’” And that is what we are doing in our disaster relief work. We are humbling ourselves to do clinics in the hot sun, fog for mosquitoes and clean wells so that the people may learn of the cleansing that only comes from Jesus.

Pray that:

The Lord will sustain and strengthen disaster relief personnel who are physically and emotionally spent through long hours and hard work in the tsunami relief efforts.

Volunteers will maintain good humor when unfamiliar circumstances arise as they show the love of Jesus to tsunami survivors. The Lord often uses laughter to break down barriers and open hearts to His good news.
