My Shelter

“For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as with a shield.” Psalms 5:12, NASB.

Marci’s* family has a mixed religious background. Her father was Christian in name. Her mother was active in her Islamic faith. Even though her father did not always attend, Marci grew up going to church. She remembers with fondness her times in Sunday School learning from the Bible.

As Marci grew in her understanding of the Word of God she discovered that she was a sinner in need of forgiveness, and Jesus was the only one who could save her. At the age of 17, Marci made a commitment to follow Jesus by faith.

Several years after her decision to follow Christ, her father left her mother to live with another woman. Marci was devastated. She tried to share with her mom that Jesus offers true peace and love. Marci said, “When my mom looks at my dad’s behavior, it is difficult for her to believe.”

At about the same time, Marci got the opportunity to move to another city as part of a team of believers called to sow the Gospel in a largely Muslim area. Answering God’s call was very difficult because of the burden she felt for reaching her mother, father and siblings with the Gospel. Yet God’s prompting to go was equally strong. “I felt God telling me to trust Him with my family,” said Marci. “So I am following God and letting Him be my shelter.”

*Name changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

Marci’s entire family will come to true, saving faith.

God will bless Marci’s ministry and that many people will hear and respond to the Gospel because of her faithfulness.

Marci will receive the promised blessing of Psalm 91:1.
