On Fire

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.” Proverbs 11:30, NASB.

Among one large Muslim people group in the Pacific Rim, it is unusual to find believers from the surrounding minority groups who are willing to risk persecution in order to share the Gospel. William* was an exception to the rule. He regularly shared his faith with Muslim colleagues, friends and neighbors. When asked why he is so bold, William tells of a dream that God sent to him.

In his dream, he and his family are inside a house overlooking a deep pit. Flames are consuming everything in the pit, but the house itself is safe. While he watches from his safe vantage point he sees his Muslim friends and neighbors in agony – perishing in the fire. Then it occurred to William that his family is safe in the house of faith, but all his Muslim friends and neighbors were still outside, and if he didn’t invite them in they would surely perish.

After waking from that dream William committed himself to be a faithful witness to the people around him, even though it could cost him and his family everything. William said, “How can I just sit safely in the house, while so many are still outside: so many are still in danger.”

*Name changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

God will rouse his churches from fear to boldly invite this Muslim people group to come into His house.

Bold witnesses like William will be granted favor with the people and with the authorities.

Those Muslim-background believers that William has led to faith will be wise and bold in their witness to friends and family.
