Cheap to Make Bombs

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." Acts 4:29-30, NIV.

God called Ray and Jenny* to move to a new town that has no Christian witness by faith; they even turned down other, more lucrative offers. With no support, they moved trusting that God would provide for them. With great enthusiasm they began ministry among the 4,000 homes in their new location. But, almost immediately they ran into opposition.

An influential resident of the town was against having any Christian work in “his town.” He approached the Ray and Jenny and asked them to leave. In response, they went to town hall to see if the government shared the same view and wanted them to leave. Ray hoped to get everything out in the open and come to some cordial resolution to the conflict. The town officials clearly stated that Christians have every right to live and work in their jurisdiction. This did not make the influential person happy.

Shortly after the town hall meetings the landlord of this Christian couple received a threatening letter. It said, “Our town used to be a communist stronghold; gun powder and bombs are still easy and cheap to make.”

Ray and Jenny are determined to stay. “We are not at all surprised at this rise of opposition. In many ways it is a good sign,” said Ray. “It indicates that our Lord's Word is beginning to have a spiritual impact on the lives of those who have been living under the power of Satan for generation after generation.”

*Names changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

God will bless Ray and Jenny with boldness and protection as they are obedient to His calling.

God will bring conviction to the man who is opposing His Gospel.

The Gospel will set many people free in this unreached town to the glory of God.
