Good For Believers

“Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” Mark 7:8, NAS.

Trainers at a teaching farm in Indonesia have noticed that most of their training groups are about half Muslim and half Christian. One of the lead trainers, named Jamie*, feels this is beneficial for the believers as well as the Muslims.

“When believers see us sharing the Gospel in a contextually sensitive way with Muslims, it challenges them to change their paradigm,” said Jamie. He noted that Christians seemed to learn on three levels from the spiritual dimension of the training. First, they got to look at the familiar Bible stories in a fresh way. Second, they learn new ways to share truth with the Muslim people who live around them, and hopefully they get a burden to be involved in actively sharing the Gospel. Finally, it challenges them to look at some of the traditions that they have elevated above the Bible.

These are all good lessons for believers, so the farm staff feels that they are not wasting time to have Christians learning along side the Muslims in their various training classes. They feel that having the opportunity to train believers is just as important as sharing truth with pre-believers.

*Name changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

Believers who go through training will become burdened to share the Gospel with their Muslim neighbors.

Believers will repent of church traditions that have been elevated above the teaching of the Bible.

Barriers between Muslims and Christians will be lowered as they study agriculture together at the teaching farm.
