Leg-Leveling Miracle

“David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground.” 2 Samuel 12:16, NIV.

I am a man with very little faith. Yet, God took the faith I had and made it grow through an incident with my son when he was only six years old. My son complained of leg pain, but I thought it was nothing and ignored his complaints. That was until the pain started waking him in the middle of the night. He’d cry out because the pain was so great. Finally his mother and I decided to take him to see a doctor.

When the doctor measured the boy’s legs he noted that one was longer than the other. That might explain some of the pain. Then he x-rayed the legs, and discovered a dangerous spot that would require amputation. We were all stunned by the diagnosis and recommended treatment. The doctor gave us a prescription, and told us to come back in two weeks.

How can this be? Shock, anger and guilt swirled around inside me. How can my little boy be losing his leg? Night and day I cried out to God in prayer. “Please spare my son’s leg,” was my plea. After two weeks of praying and giving the boy the medicine that the doctor prescribed, we returned for the follow up appointment.

After examining the boy the doctor asked, “What did you give to him?”

Supposing that the doctor thought I had resorted to traditional Chinese medicine, I quickly said, “We only gave him the medicine you prescribed.”

The doctor shook his head in disbelief. “I prescribed pain medication,” he said. “Pain medication would not cause a limb to grow. What did you do?”

“I did pray for him night and day,” I admitted.

He was an Indian doctor. His head bobbed side to side, as only the Indians can, and he said, “Mr. Tan, your son’s legs are now the same length. This is most remarkable.” He ordered a second set of x-rays. When they came back from the radiologist, the white spot was completely gone. “I cannot explain this, but your son is completely well,” said the doctor. “There is no need to amputate his leg.”

My son is now 46-years-old, and from the time I cried out to God until today his legs have given him no troubles! While the doctor cannot explain it, I know how my son was healed. God was pleased to take my mustard-seed faith and cause it to grow!

Pray that:

Believers in the Pacific Rim will pray to God with great expectancy, and ask for great things for God’s glory.

God will reveal His glory by answering the prayers of His children with miracles, signs and wonders.

As God answers prayer that believers will give Him credit and unbelieving witnesses will believe in God and be saved.
