The Pacific Rim monthly day of prayer and fasting is Thursday, February 1 with a focus on the Tavoyan of Myanmar, over 100,000 peace loving people living on a small strip of land on the coast of Myanmar. Their dominant religion is Theravada Buddhism. Less than 1 in every 1,000 is Christian. See specific requests at
Every year hundreds of English speakers, many of whom are Christians, from around the world come to Japan to teach. There is no doubt that "the resources are in the harvest". Ask God to call out "tent makers" like K. among these teachers with unique platforms to influence and teach the "greatest story ever told."
When new workers on the field gather to debrief, train, and refocus, there is always a special bond and encouragement for those of similar struggles, needs, joys, and experiences. Now is the serious planning stage for a summer meeting, so ask God to order the schedule, training, and logistics in a way that each participant will be overwhelmed in His Presence, encouraged and ready to return home rejoicing, worshipping, and equipped for the days ahead.
Several prayerwalking teams will be traveling by boat, trucks, buses and and even on foot to various places in PacRim this month. Pray for protection as they enter serious stronghold areas. Pray for strength and endurance. Ask God to thwart every effort to distract, discourage, and dishearten those participating. Ask that walls will come crashing down, that His kingdom will come, and that His will will be done among the peoples for whom they are standing in the gap.
Pray for the Lu people, who practice a combination of a major religion mixed with folk religion and animism, by using rituals to protect themselves from evil spirits. Once a year they encircle their villages with white rope and offer sacrifices. Some are aggressive in sharing their religion with others. With very few believers and only the New Testament in their language, pray that the Lord will provide competent and faithful translators who will have a heart for the Lu to know the Lord.
Dapitan, a tourist city on the northwestern edge of the Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines is known for the Rizal Shrine, Dakak Beach Resort, and Gloria de Dapitan. About 800 believers live in this area of 86,000 people. Recently, two women were saved and have opened their homes for bible study. Another believing couple has also opened their home for Bible study. Pray for people to join these Bible studies and to quickly grasp the truth and their need for a Savior.
Are there days when you don’t feel like pressing on? Discouragement is a reality for workers and believers and lately it seems to be growing. Pray Col. 2:2 - "that hearts will be encouraged" and that brightness will shine forth as workers labor not in vain but in obedience and for His glory.
In one PacRim mega city of over twelve million people, one in every ten is a university student. As a result, about 1.2 million students are studying on 60 different campuses. One team’s vision is to plant fellowships and train leaders from among university students who will impact their campuses and prepare an army of laborers to take the Word to many places. Pray that God will call forth more national laborers. Pray Isaiah 54:2-3 asking God to ‘make a way in the wilderness’ and to use students and believers from this mega city to touch other nations for Christ.
