More Powerful

“I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.” Micah 5:12, NIV.

The powers of occult healers, or witchdoctors, are widely sought among many poor and spiritually dark areas of the Pacific Rim. Our Western worldview would call it superstition, but one Christian worker found out how real the power of darkness can be as a witchdoctor tried to work on his injured back.

Raymond* had back problems off and on for many years. One day in the village his back went completely out and left him flat on his back, unable to move. The villagers called for a person to do massage, which is often part of treatment in Raymond’s culture. Some people just do massage, while others combine massage with occult practice.

The man who came to massage Raymond’s back was an occultist, and Raymond immediately sensed that something more than massage was being done with his back. The man’s hands felt hot, but his skin felt cold where the man had rubbed. Raymond looked at the man and his eyes glowed red. A crowd had gathered to watch the man work on the Christian’s back.

Raymond immediately began praying against the occult power. He sensed evil in the room and prayed even harder. The man stopped massaging his back. He said, “I can’t do anything. The spirit in this man is more powerful than the spirit in me.”

At that point Raymond gave testimony to the Spirit of Jesus being more powerful than any other spirit. News of Raymond being more powerful than the witchdoctor spread through the whole village.

Pray that:

God will display His power over the occult strongholds in the Pacific Rim.

Believers will understand and use the authority that Christ has given them over the spiritual powers of darkness.

People in this village will come to accept the Spirit of Jesus to overcome the spiritual powers that they fear.
