Send Someone Else
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” Isaiah 6:8, NAS. God began to work in the heart of a 45-year-old believer after he attended a Mission Vision training session at his church. The training opened his eyes to the over one million people who lived around him in a Muslim people group. After the training he would pray on his motorcycle for a Muslim village he drove by each day on his way to work as an educator. He asked God to send someone to reach this village with the Gospel. He prayed this prayer for many months. One day as he was praying and driving by the village, a tropical downpour forced him to pull off the road to seek relief in a bus shelter. People from the village ran to the bus shelter to get out of the rain. The believer felt fearful, but as he began to talk to the people, he realized that they were normal people with the same needs, hopes, and dreams as him. At that moment he realized that God had sent that rain in answer to his prayer. God was not going to send someone else to that village; God wanted to send him! Every week he started visiting the village to see what needs he could meet. He taught some of the men in the village a better gardening method. In the course of working with these men, three of them accepted the Gospel and became followers of Christ. Soon afterwards this believer was transferred to another school. In this new school a majority of the students are Muslim. He is so excited that God is making him the answer to his own prayer! Pray that: This educator will continue to be bold and faithful in sharing his faith with his Muslim neighbors. More believers in this area will overcome prejudice and fear and get a vision and burden for reaching out to their Muslim neighbors. Love shown in Christ’s name will continue to draw people from this Muslim people group to saving faith. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
