Prayerwalking Brings New Life

“Who despises the day of small things? Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.” Zechariah 4:10, NIV.

When God laid it on the hearts of IMB missionaries serving in Bangkok, Thailand to start a prayer initiative to prayerwalk all 50 districts of the city, they didn’t realize the effect it would have on local churches. Bang Na Baptist Church is one example of the power of prayer to bring life out of near death.

The church only had five members. Their dream was just to keep the doors to the church open. As volunteer teams began coming to prayerwalk, the church was invited to join in on the walks. As the five members of Bang Na got out into their community, God began to change their hearts to see possibilities all around them. They started working with youth at a detention center and children in a nearby slum. Before they knew it, God began adding members to the church.

A year after they started prayerwalking, Bang Na Baptist church is regularly running over 40 people in worship services. Now their dream is much bigger than just keeping the doors open. They are reaching out to another church that is in the same situation that they were in just a year ago.

Their encouragement is simple, “Get outside the church and start praying. Let God show you what He is doing. Don’t be discouraged. We have been where you are, and God changed it for us. He can change it for you!”

Pray that:

God will bring revival to churches across Bangkok.

Bangkok believers will get outside the church building to pray in their communities.

Christians will have courage and boldness to join God where they see Him working.
