The Three Women
“And it will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28, NAS. Dreams play an important role in Manny’s* culture. Shortly after becoming a follower of Jesus, Manny had a vivid dream where many people were following after him. Then he noticed three women to the side. Manny asked them if they knew Jesus, but they did not answer. They moved farther away. Manny asked them again if they knew Jesus. Again they gave no answer and moved even farther away. The third time that Manny asked them the same question, they vanished altogether. Manny then saw a leader. He asked the leader what the vanishing women meant, but before he received an answer he woke up. Manny has a girlfriend who is not a follower of Jesus. He believes that his dream was showing him that if he continues to follow Jesus, then his girlfriend will go away. Still, at the same time God showed him that his relationship to Jesus is more important than any number of girlfriends. In reality, Manny’s girlfriend has not left him. As a matter of fact the changes in Manny’s life that have come from following Jesus have changed the opinion of the girl’s parents. While they didn’t approve of Manny before, they now are pleased that their daughter is dating him! Yet, he is right in understanding that Jesus must come first, even before a courting relationship. *Name changed for security reasons Pray that: Manny will keep Jesus first in all his relationships. Manny’s girlfriend and her entire family will become followers of Jesus. When Manny marries, he will marry one who shares his faith. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
