A Most Remarkable Girl

“I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.” Leviticus 26:12, NAS

Usha is a most remarkable 6-year-old. She is just now starting to walk and talk. This is amazing because she was born with Russell Silver Syndrome. Most children with this syndrome never walk or talk. Even more remarkable is that her staunch Hindu father credits her progress to prayers made in the name of Jesus.

Usha’s mom prayed to receive Christ as a youth, but later she met and married a man who was a dedicated Hindu. She left the church and followed her husband in the Hindu way. When Usha was born with her handicap, the parents tried everything they knew as Hindus, with no effect.

Usha’s mom decided to contact a local church to see if Christians could help. At first, when the pastor came to visit and to pray the father was hostile. It was so severe that the mom waited for the father to leave for work, and then she would ask the pastor to come and pray.

As the months passed, the father began to see changes in Usha’s life. She was more responsive, and her muscle tone began to improve. When Usha first started to walk the father was moved. He could not deny that something wonderful was happening in his daughter’s life. So he began going to church with his wife and daughter.

He gave his heart to Jesus at a church service, and he began to invite his siblings to come with him to church. The change that Jesus brought in his life coupled with the healing in Usha’s life impacted many of his sisters. Four of them prayed to receive Christ shortly after he did. He is currently serving as a deacon in the church!

Usha’s parents were afraid to have another child because of an increased likelihood of Russell Silver Syndrome. At church God gave a word to their pastor. He told them, “Don’t be afraid to have another baby. You will have a healthy baby boy.” They received God’s promise, and today they have a healthy six-month-old baby boy named Joshua!

Usha is into everything these days. She is very active. When she was included in a treatment group with a specialist in a neighboring city her improvement was far greater than any other patient with the same condition. The specialist can’t figure out any explanation. Usha’s family knows what made the difference; Usha is walking and talking because of Jesus. She is a most remarkable girl!

Pray that:

Entire Hindu families will be impacted by the transformed lives of new believers.

God will continue to heal in response to prayers in the Name of Jesus so that lost people may know that the gospel is true.
