Prayers at Soi Zero
“Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.” 1 Kings 18:37, NASU. Seventeen bars nestle under a freeway overpass on Soi Zero in Bangkok, Thailand. These bars sell more than alcohol; they also have bar girls for rent. A group of college aged, American believers were prayerwalking the area. One young man became provoked in his Spirit at the depravity he saw all around him. He prayed, “In Jesus’ Name may all these bars be torn down.” The very next day every single bar he had prayed over was torn down to make way for a parking lot! When the students saw God’s immediate answer, it gave them even greater boldness in asking God to do mighty things among the women and men caught in the sex trade. Obviously the plans to destroy these buildings had been in motion long before a group of students showed up to prayerwalk. Whether you believe that God set those plans in motion because He knew that prayer was going to be prayed, or that He moved in the young man’s heart to pray because of what He was about to do, the end result either way was increased faith and boldness. One thing is clear, because of prayers answered at Soi Zero there is a group of students whose faith will never be the same again! Pray that: Believers will confront places of evil with love and prayers of faith. God will magnify Himself by displaying His power and Holiness through His people. The powers of darkness will be cast down and the captives will be set free. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
