"To the Ends of the Earth"
Launched in Korea

Seoul, Korea. The Korean translation of “To the Ends of the Earth,” by Dr. Jerry Rankin, was officially launched in a ceremony at Yoido Baptist Church on September 21. Dr. Rankin is President of the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention, based in Richmond, Virginia. The agency currently has more than 5,100 missionaries proclaiming the gospel of Christ in countries around the world.

“To the Ends of the Earth” focuses on the vision that drives the International Mission Board to reach a lost world with the gospel of Jesus Christ and provides churches with practical suggestions for participating in short-term volunteer projects, sending missionaries, adopting Unreached People Groups, providing cooperative support, and joining partnerships that expand our potential and accelerate the harvest.

The Korean translation is unique from other translations of the book in that it has been contextualized specifically with a Korean audience in mind. The stories and illustrations were modified from the original English version to relate specifically to Koreans.

“The Korean Foreign Mission Board has more than 500 missionaries in 44 countries,” said Rev. Sam Stallings, Strategy Associate for Korea-Philippines of the IMB’s Pacific Rim Region. “We realize that God has a key role for Koreans in completing the task of global evangelization.”

Dr. Rankin added, “It is our prayer that this book will be a catalyst to equip Korean pastors, churches, and missionaries to develop strategies to reach a lost world.”

Copies of the book are available in Korea from the IMB’s Pacific Rim office in Seoul or in the U.S. from IMB offices in Richmond. Plans are also underway to publish the Korean contextualized version in English for English-speaking Koreans living in the U.S.
