In the Face of Death

“And this do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.” Romans 13:11, NAS.

Ibu Sally* returned to her home village a few weeks ago to look for helpers for her business. At the end of the day she returned to her parent’s house and saw a car that is used for carrying dead bodies parked out front. Thinking that one of her parent’s had died Sally burst into the house with tears streaming down her cheeks.

Once she entered the home she found both her parents still very much alive. It was her grandfather who had passed on just that afternoon. Her husband, Mitch, returned home while Sally stayed on for a few days with her folks. The death of her grandfather made Sally realize that she had no guarantee of how much time she had to share with her parents. So she decided to share boldly about Isa Almasih (Arabic for Jesus the Messiah).

Sally shared how it was reading the Quran and the verses that speak of Isa that started her on this journey. Her Aunt Edna, who lives on another island, was very interested in what Sally had to share. She gave Sally a paper with her address and telephone number and asked her to send all the references from the Quran about Isa.

Of all Sally’s aunts and uncles Edna is the most respected for her diligence to follow the teachings of Islam. If Aunt Edna were to come to faith in Isa, it will have a deep impact on the entire family.

*Names changed for security reasons.

Pray that:

Sally will continue to have a strong witness to her family and her community.

Aunt Edna will continue to be open, and that God will confirm her study with dreams of Jesus.
