Wise Rabbit

“Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.” Proverbs 4:6, NIV.

In the traditional wisdom stories of the Khmer (pronounced K㠖 mī’), the rabbit is considered to be the wisest and cleverest of all the animals. So when Khmer believers started a leadership training course, they decided to call it Wise Rabbit Training. At the end of one of the training sessions, a believer stood to give testimony to what he had learned. He shared another traditional Khmer story.

He shared about the hand. He said, “One day all the fingers decided that they should be the ruler of the hand. The thumb argued that he should lead because he was thicker and stood apart from the rest of the fingers. The middle finger thought that his superior length made him the logical choice to lead. Each finger had its own argument as to why it would be the best leader for the hand.” The man continued to share that he had discovered from the training that all the fingers must be leaders in their own way. In the same way, when the body of Christ stops arguing about who is the leader and each one makes contributions to the body by using their gifts, then the body is healthy and grows.

Pray that:

The leaders in the Khmer church will truly be willing to share leadership so that the entire church is built up.

New leaders for the Khmer church will emerge from these leadership training sessions.
