A powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit central Indonesia on May 27 leaving over 5000 dead, thousands injured, and hundreds of thousands homeless. Nearby Mount Merapi has been threatening to explode for weeks. People fear a volcano eruption, another tsunami, or a similar disaster will still come. These people who had little are now left with almost nothing. Emergency aid is coming, but the needs are enormous. Pray for wisdom and discernment for the response teams as they reach out to the hurting in a redemptive way. Pray for His healing touch on the shattered lives and hearts of the people and that many will be drawn to Jesus, who is full of compassion and grace. Pray for Mount Merapi to settle down and ease up on her activity.

During a recent typhoon in the village of Estambar, Masbate, Philippines Pastor Caloy and his family lost their house by heavy winds. Pastor Caloy, his wife, and four children live together with two workers and the five people serving on the Nehemiah Team. As they praise God that no one was hurt, pray for the rebuilding of a house and the testimony God is giving them to praise him through the good and the bad times of life.

Pray for Y. Yang who is a freshman at the local tourism college in Jeju. He has joined Martha’s Saturday night college student Bible class at her apartment. He is not a Christian. Pray that he will open his heart as he studies the Bible with other students.

The "Global Day of Prayer", June 4, 2006, is an initiative to call Christians around the world to unite in repentance and prayer and to work together as God’s instruments for the blessing and healing of the nations. Join this global movement – which is transforming cities and nations – along with an estimated 200 million people in 175 nations praying with one voice on one day. Pray that every people group in PacRim will have a viable, relevant church planting movement conveying the gospel faithfully.

Five times a day Muslims pray and cry out to God saying, "Show us the straight path". The Quran says that indeed Jesus is a sign for the coming of the end time. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open the hearts and minds of those who are praying and crying out to know this straight path and that many will believe in Jesus who has died for them and made a way for salvation.

Workers on the frontline face serious spiritual warfare for souls, and they feel the heat of battle from time to time. Pray for protection over their families and health. Ask God to send breakthroughs and encourage them to persevere in victory. Thank Him for the sacrifices many workers willingly make to obey the Master in hard places.

In South Australia Karen met Emily at a friend’s wedding. Emily shared her cynicism of people who say they are "spiritual" or "Christian" and then do not live out their lives as such. This led to a conversation about what it truly means to be a "follower of Christ" and not just a Christian in name or culture only! Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will bring forth fruit from these types of "God conversation" opportunities.
