God is Enough

“And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4, NIV.

James* came to Christ from a sordid past. He was involved in gangs, drugs, and sexual promiscuity. When he came to faith, it was truly a miracle of God’s grace. Shortly after his conversion, James was drafted into military service. Many believers who were close to James feared that he would fall back into his old lifestyle. These fears proved to be unfounded.

Recently James came home on furlough. He was anxious to talk about the study he had been doing in the book of Romans. He talked about hanging a picture of Jesus in his home as a reminder to him of who he belonged to now.  He and his wife have started a church in their home.

James said, “I want to fill my wall with a cross and many other pictures so everyone who comes into my home will know where I stand.”

In his military service James has to travel a lot. When he travels, all he has is God and his Bible. James thought for a moment and said with a smile, “But that is enough!”

*Name changed for the privacy of the local believer.

Pray that:

James will remain faithful to the stand he has taken for Christ.

Other young Thai military men will be drawn to Christ through James’s words and lifestyle.
