He Sends the Rain

“In the past, He let all nations go their own way. Yet He has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” Acts 14:16-17, NIV.

Thomas* is a 55 year old farmer. He is also the Imam or religious leader in his village. Several volunteer Christian agricultural teams have visited his community, and he is always glad to receive their help.

One morning after planting seed with him and his wife, a believer asked him, “Can we pray together in the name of Jesus?” Thomas agreed. The Christian prayed for God to bless him with rain. In fact, it rained. It rained cats and dogs all afternoon!

The following day that same believer met Thomas. Thomas said, “God answered your prayer right away with rain.” The believer asked if Thomas would like to hear stories from the Bible, and Thomas said he would like to hear more.

Thomas is now meeting regular with a local believer to hear stories from the Bible. Each time they meet Thomas eagerly shares the story from the previous meeting, showing that he still remembers and has been thinking about it.

Pray that:

Thomas’s plants (watermelon and ground nuts) grow well and healthy.

He will remain open to hear more about the Jesus who sends rain.

Thomas will come to faith in Jesus, and will share boldly and wisely with his people.
