Prayed into the Kingdom

“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him.” 1 Samuel 1:27, NIV.

My name is Maruthamuthu. I am 20-years-old. My aunt, back in India, became a Christian some years ago and had several times challenged me to accept Christ.  I was very stubborn. I hated her and her Jesus. I did everything I could to avoid her. After completing my High School examination, I ran away from my village, as I found life in the village difficult. So I decided to come to Singapore to work as a laborer.

Life in Singapore was not very different from village life. I had to work long hours and had little to show for my efforts. One of my friends invited me to go to church. There I heard the gospel again, but this time I accepted Christ as my Savior. I was baptized shortly after that at the Singapore Baptist Church.

I later learned that my aunt had prayed every day for me after I ran away. I hated her and ran from her, but she loved and prayed for me. I am sure that God saved me in answer to the prayers of my Auntie. Many in our village are now Christian because of her persistent witness and prayers.

Pray that:

Believers in unreached areas will not grow weary in witnessing and praying for lost family and friends.

Believers will respond with love, even when they are shown hatred from their loved ones because of their faith.
