Not Luck

“He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.” Psalm 25:9, NIV.

Jimmy* is a first generation Christian studying civil engineering at a university in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. An Australian company was offering a single internship. Every engineering student wanted the chance to be chosen for the internship. After reviewing the qualifications of the students, the faculty decided that four of them were equally qualified and a drawing would determine who got the internship.

When Jimmy learned that his name was one of the four included in the drawing, his immediate response was to pray and to leave the situation in God’s hands. The next day his name was drawn. All his classmates commented that he was lucky. Jimmy did not hesitate. He said, “Luck had nothing to do with this opportunity. God answered my prayer and gave me this internship.”

The following Sunday Jimmy stood before his church family and gave God credit for his opportunity to study under an engineer from Australia.

*Name changed for the privacy of the local believer.

Pray that:

Jimmy’s classmates will want to know more about the God who answers prayer.

Jimmy will continue to grow in his relationship with Jesus and that he will become a faith filled leader in the church.
