Kingdom Creations
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV. Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you will feed him for a lifetime. This age old adage well describes the work of Kingdom Creations. In 2003 Kingdom Creations began in Cambodia as an income generating project to assist the very poor and to provide jobs for young people who are at risk of being exploited. Groups of women are gathered and taught how to make various handcraft items that can be sold. They learn how to make wall hangings, kitchen items, embroidered purses, jewelry bags and Bible covers. While they are learning a trade, the women are also being taught stories from the Bible. Not only do they learn how to make a living, they learn how to live in a way that pleases God. Kingdom Creations has also helped church leaders by giving them a platform to reach out to the community and at the same time providing them with income for their family while they are planting new churches. There are currently four full-time employees and over thirty part-time workers with project groups working in six villages spread over three provinces in Cambodia. The men and women who find job skills through Kingdom Creations are also receiving the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. And we know that everyone who responds to Jesus is truly a Kingdom Creation! Pray that: Kingdom Creations will be able to successfully reach into more villages throughout Cambodia, providing church leaders with the means and entry to plant new churches. The men and women who work at Kingdom Creations will respond to the gospel and find new life in Christ. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
