Pacific Rim Prayer Requests: February 2006 PRAYER REQUESTS: A couple and their friends in Southeast Asia were astonished to watch from a distance a man trying to stop his rolling SUV from hitting a concrete wall. The vehicle smashed the man between the rear bumper and a concrete wall before the onlookers could reach him. Mr. P withered to the ground in great pain. The group rapidly responded by taking him to the nearest hospital, as ambulances and 911 services are not available in their country. The incident made the newspapers, as Mr. P is a very important person. The workers visited him and prayed for him in the hospital. The doctors told them Mr. P, who is presently unconscious, would be in the hospital a very long time. Please remember this man and pray that these workers would have the opportunity to witness to Mr. P and that he would respond to the Gospel. One worker in Southeast Asia writes, “This past Monday I scheduled to meet with six believers. In the process, I was deluged with computer problems, one of the men’s nephews got sick and died, and another’s wife was having strange health problems, so he couldn’t leave her. The third damaged his hand in an accident. A fourth was out of phone contact. So it looked like we would have a very small group. I was thrilled when three people showed up despite all the opposition. To my surprise, they brought six others with them who had believed as a result of our medical clinics in 2004 and 2005! They came because two of the men had been actively following up on them. Also to my surprise, all six of them decided to get baptized! This brings our total number of baptisms up to 21, and we are hoping for many more.” Please remember this worker and the new believers, and pray against all the opposition they encounter in trying to serve the Lord. Praise the Lord that Granny heard three passages from the Bible in her own language! Before Christmas a tiny 80+ year old Southeast Asian neighbor was invited to a worker’s home to see the Christmas tree lights. With her bare feet hanging from the couch without reaching the floor, Granny sat next to the worker and heard again the stories in Genesis 3, Matthew and Luke. Granny had heard these stories over seventy years ago. Granny touched her palms demonstrating Jesus’ crucifixion. Pray that God would speak to this seeker through His Word and draw her to Himself. Praise Him that His Word does not return void. Increasing opposition, as evidenced by the harassment of national and foreign workers, threats of various kinds and more imprisonments, creates opportunities for greater boldness, faithfulness and love. Pray workers will stand firm and strong, united in heart and overflowing with love. Ask that none would seek revenge, but allow God to work in His ways. Pray for physical, emotional and spiritual protection for each one. Pray these incidents will further the spread of the Gospel. The Franklin Graham Festival will be hosting a “There is Hope” crusade in Manila, Philippines this Feb. 2-5 (www.mmfgf.org). Preparations have been underway for several months. Pray God would send revival to the Philippines through this event. Pray that thousands will receive Christ as their personal Savior and know the hope He alone can bring. Pray for Mrs. Tsu. a Japanese lady, baptized in December. She has been plagued by depression for two years, but since she trusted Christ, her life has been radically changed. Her husband has taken notice. Pray that he will be saved and that a church will be started in Asahi City. Pray for the Christians who travel an hour each way to go, disciple, and worship with her. Lift up the TCKs who have yet to enter into a personal relationship with Christ. Ask the Spirit of God to move mightily upon their hearts convicting them of their own sin, righteousness, and judgment. Many TCKs know the right words and what they should feel. Pray that they see the difference between walking in the faith of their parents and walking in their own faith. Ask that they will walk in their own relationship with Christ Jesus.
