Pacific Rim Prayer Requests - JANUARY 16-31, 2006

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Many among the 32 million Sunda people are farmers. There are three groups that have tremendous authority and influence over the people: the religious leaders, local government leaders and Dukuns shamans/healers, and teachers of martial arts. The Sunda seek to maintain harmony with the natural world. Ask that the Word will be shared with religious leaders and will spread like wildfire throughout their communities. Ask that governmental officials and leaders will carry out their responsibilities in fairness with justice, mercy and compassion. Ask God to use these leaders’ influence in a positive, powerful way for His glory and that they will bow their knee to the Righteous Judge.

The Minangkabau people are famous for moving to distant areas to seek success. Yet their ability to influence people in their home country remains great. If a Minangkabauan changes religion, he is often rejected by his family and community and may lose his job.  Although successful in business, there is still a great need for educational opportunities and the development of home industries. Ask that the Minangkabau will hear and embrace the truth as they move to new jobs and locations. Lift up those who have believed and are now paying a great price to live daily for Him.  Ask that wise, honorable business people with God’s heart will have opportunities to help with the physical and spiritual needs of these people.

There are five unbelieving students in the English Bible Class being taught at Jeju National University, Korea. Pray that these students will come to faith in Jesus Christ and then be avenues to reach their family and friends.  Pray for the Jeju team members to have insight and wisdom for effective communication and for sharing the Gospel with these students.

A well-known Japanese Christian singer, Makoto Iwabuchi, will be performing gospel concerts in five Australian cities during the month of March. Pray for a great movement of God’s Spirit among the Japanese who attend these concerts. Pray for the gospel to spread quickly as people share testimonies of what God has done for them. Pray for God to call out workers for the harvest from among this group that will not only reach Japanese for Christ in Australia but also their relatives back in Japan.

Prayer walking was a new experience for the six pastors and one pastor’s son who joined Carl M in the strategic Visayan location of Kananga, Philippines. The group prayed for freedom from the vice of gambling at a sambongan or cockpit arena. An immediate result was the rededication to the Lord of one family who requested baptism and opened their home for Bible study. Pray for more fruit from their prayers and freedom in Christ to be given to hundreds in Kananga and surrounding areas.

Matt and Misty Sargent request prayer for Japanese living in Hiroshima, especially an English speaking Japanese lady who is introducing Misty to her English speaking friends.  Pray for Mrs. H, Mrs. M, and the friends that Misty has yet to meet asking God to give them an understanding of the Gospel resulting in their salvation. Pray for these disciples to grow and be effective witnesses in helping to plant rapidly reproducing churches.

What was a struggling church is now a full house of neighborhood families and even folks from the surrounding slum area in Bangkok, Thailand. DM has a passion and urgency to pray. She and Thai Christians joined together to fast and pray for 40 days, believing God to open the hearts of Thai people to the gospel and to send revival. Morning, night, and all night prayer meetings demonstrate their belief that prayer proceeds revival. God has moved in amazing ways in the past and pray with them that God will do this again in this mega-city of millions.
