Pacific Rim Prayer Requests - January 1-15, 2006
ANSWERS: Mrs. Se, a Japanese believer, whose family took her Bible away and demanded that she renounce her faith, now shares freely with her husband and children and displays a calendar with scripture verses in her home. Recently her husband heard the word hallelujah on TV and asked its meaning. God has honored Mrs. Se’s decision to take up her cross daily and follow Christ. Pray that Mr. Se and the entire family will be saved soon. PRAYER REQUESTS: Since the coming to faith of the first believer among the B’New people last September, 62 people have professed faith in Christ, and four groups have started. Key leaders have been threatened but remain bold and strong in their faith. Some of the new B’New believers have succumbed under the pressure from their communities and families. Pray that Zeke, Tom, Rad, and Sing will be filled with the Spirit and be faithful in spreading the gospel in the face of persecution. Trust God to ignite a Church Planting Movement that will sweep across the vast B’New region. The CC people living on the island of Sulawesi have a tradition of believing that someone from abroad will come and share a precious gift with them. Last November the first CC came to faith in Christ. As this faith¬ful disciple grows and shares the Good News with his own people, ask the Spirit to open the eyes, ears and hearts of the CC people, so many will see and believe in Jesus. In several PacRim areas persecution against Christians and churches is increasing. Ask that believers will stand firm and strong in the midst of great pressure and that believers will grow in number and in spiritual depth. As churches are forced to close, ask that cell groups will pop up allowing believers to study the Word, encourage each other, and bless the community through acts of love and ministry. Pray for forgiveness toward their persecutors, reaching out in love and believing God can turn them into present day Apostle Pauls. Ask for good health and the Father’s assurance of His presence for these partners and their families as they walk through difficult days and circumstances. For several months Stephanie and Miranda, inter-cultural students from Southwest Baptist University, lived among the Higaon-on tribal people on northern Mindanao, Philippines. They had opportunity to help start literacy, basic health care classes, and chronological Bible story-telling groups; to meet medical needs; and to build relationships with the young people of the village. Praise the Lord for young volunteers like these and pray that the seeds of the gospel planted through their lives will produce eternal spiritual fruit. Ahmat picked up the book and exclaimed, “This is written in my language!” He and many others have recently received the first book ever printed in the script of the WC people, known as Javi. Its fame is spreading quickly throughout the community. This book contains stories that will lead the readers through the Prophets of the Old Testament to Isa, our Beloved Jesus. Pray that the One who opens hearts to the Truth will use this book to open many hearts of the WC people. The Baynes in Australia have begun a new work with the Pigeon Hole Aboriginal Community holding Bible studies in the tall grass and under a shady tree. As they hear and study God’s Word, pray their hearts and minds will be open to His Spirit revealing Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Pray that a church planting movement would begin in this community and spread to neighboring Aboriginal communities. SPECIAL REQUEST: There seems to be an onslaught of various kinds of attacks upon workers in our region, including sickness, imprisonment of nationals, sudden unexplainable illnesses, and oppression. They need your special prayer for God’s protection upon them, for hindrances to cease, and for fruitful ministries to result.
