Listen and Pray
“Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.” Psalm 5:2, NIV. We went on a prayerwalk one evening and stopped at an area that had experienced more destruction than others we’d seen. While we were walking and praying, an older man approached us and wanted to talk. He had suffered a broken arm, and had lost his wife, five of his six children, and his home during the tsunami. He was living in a refugee camp with his only remaining child. He pointed to a near-by mass burial site and said that his family was buried there. It was the only practical way for his family to be buried. The man had lost everything and had no resources to bury his own family. He was very dejected. I asked if we could pray for him, and he said yes. We prayed to the God who is One and Almighty. We prayed for healing of the man's body and mind, and we prayed the same for his daughter. Then we closed the prayer in the name of Isa al' Masih. The man seemed very appreciative that we had just listened to him and prayed with him. Pray that: Followers of Isa would be sensitive to holy appointments to hear the grieving people and to lift their pain to the One and Almighty God. God would heal broken hearts and bring salvation to many in the aftermath of the tsunami. Pacific Rim is a region of the International Mission Board, SBC.
